Yes, the grinder only grinds to a medium grind, so you're not going to obtain the flavor of an espresso grind. After some experimentation, I brew 8 to 10 cups with a full hopper of beans, then push the 1 to four cup alternative, which is supposed to heat the water hotter within the beginning.
